Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need Building Regulations approval for a new electrical installation?
Yes. Notifiable electrical work in England and Wales must be registered with Building Control. As a NICEIC-registered contractor, JD Electric 2013 LTD can self-certify the work on your behalf, saving you the cost of a separate Building Control application.
What wiring regulations apply to new installations?
All new electrical installations in the UK must comply with the current edition of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations). In addition, all domestic properties must comply with Approved Document Part P — Electrical Safety in Dwellings, Approved Document Part B — Fire Safety, and Approved Document Part F — Ventilation and Air Quality.
How long does a new electrical installation take?
Timescales depend on the size and complexity of the electrical project. A single-room extension typically takes one to two days.
